What is this scan for?
The abdomen and pelvic scan is designed to:
- Evaluate abdominal pain, bloating, or discomfort.
- Examine organs such as the liver, kidneys, and bladder.
- Detect conditions such as kidney stones, cysts, or tumors.
What to Expect
- A 20–30 minute non-invasive procedure.
- Gel is applied to the skin, and a small probe is moved over the abdomen and pelvic area.
- Real-time images are analyzed by the sonographer.
- A same-day report with detailed findings and recommendations will be provided.
Common Pathologies Assessed
- Abdominal: Fatty liver, kidney stones, gallstones, or cysts, etc.
- Pelvic: Bladder retention, wall thickening, etc.
- Urinary Tract: Obstructions or infections, etc.
Preparation
- Abdominal Scan: Fast for 6 hours (no food or drink except water).
- Pelvic Scan: Drink 1–2 pints of water 1 hour before the scan to ensure a full bladder.
