UGAP adds a quantitative fat score that complements stiffness. It’s useful when metabolic risk or NAFLD is suspected and for follow-up.
What is FibroScan® / UGAP?
Ultrasound-based elastography that measures:
- Stiffness (kPa): fibrosis/cirrhosis risk
- Fat (UGAP/CAP): degree of steatosis (with £360 option)
Numbers are available immediately and explained in context.
Who should consider it?
- NAFLD risk: obesity, T2DM, metabolic syndrome
- Alcohol-related risk or elevated LFTs
- Chronic hepatitis B/C follow-up
- Monitoring known liver disease
Prep & visit
- ✔ Fast 2–3 hours (water ok)
- ✔ 15–20 minutes, painless
- ✔ Results same day
FAQs
What do my numbers mean?
kPa reflects liver stiffness (higher often indicates more fibrosis). UGAP/CAP reflect liver fat. Interpretation depends on your clinical picture—our report explains this clearly.
Does this replace my hospital tests?
No—elastography supports decision-making. We provide a structured report to share with your GP/specialist; pathways are advised when needed.
Are there limitations?
Accuracy may be affected by obesity/ascites; we use XL probe protocols where appropriate. Not usually performed during pregnancy—please ask us first.
Ready to book?
Choose FibroScan® alone (£300) or add UGAP (£360) for quantitative fat analysis.
