Abdomen and Urinary Tract Scan – £150
What Is This Scan For?: The Abdomen and Urinary Tract Scan at UKSONO Healthcare offers a detailed evaluation of both your abdominal organs and urinary system. This comprehensive scan is ideal for individuals experiencing symptoms like abdominal pain, urinary discomfort, frequent urination, or unexplained bloating. It provides a thorough assessment of the liver, kidneys, bladder, and other vital organs to identify any potential issues, including infections, cysts, stones, or other abnormalities.
What Does This Scan Check?:
- Abdominal Organs: The scan examines key abdominal organs, including the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, and abdominal aorta, to check for any potential abnormalities such as cysts, tumors, or other health concerns.
- Kidneys: We assess the kidneys for any signs of stones, cysts, or infections that may affect kidney function.
- Bladder: The scan evaluates the bladder for any abnormalities, including bladder wall thickening or signs of infection, as well as checks for any issues related to the urinary tract.
What To Expect During the Scan: The Abdomen and Urinary Tract Scan typically lasts about 20 minutes. Our specialist sonographers will perform a transabdominal ultrasound (through your abdomen), applying a small amount of gel to your skin to enhance the quality of the images. You’ll be able to see your organs and urinary system on the screen while the sonographer carefully examines them for any abnormalities.
The procedure is non-invasive, comfortable, and relatively quick, although you may feel mild pressure as the sonographer moves the ultrasound probe over your abdomen to get a clearer view of your organs.
Preparation Required: To ensure the best possible images for this comprehensive scan, fasting for 6-8 hours before the procedure is required. This helps to clear the stomach and intestines, providing better visibility of the abdominal organs. Additionally, you will need to arrive with a full bladder—this is important for a clearer view of your bladder and urinary tract. We recommend drinking plenty of water in advance and holding off from using the bathroom until after the scan.
