Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly online. Your report can be shared with your GP, physiotherapist or specialist.
Is ultrasound effective for knee and calf issues?
Yes. Ultrasound is useful for assessing tendons, ligaments, bursae, effusions, Baker’s cysts, calf muscle tears and soft tissue swelling. It can also support targeted DVT screening where clinically indicated.
Can this scan check for DVT?
Where clinically appropriate, targeted venous assessment can be performed. If symptoms suggest urgent DVT or pulmonary embolism risk, you should seek urgent medical care through NHS 111, your GP, or emergency services.
Can both limbs be scanned?
Yes. Both limbs can be assessed in one visit. The both-limb fee is £400.
Will I receive results the same day?
Yes. Your findings will be explained during the appointment and a written report will be provided the same day.
Is ultrasound safe?
Yes. Ultrasound uses sound waves and does not use ionising radiation.
