Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can self-refer and book directly online. Your report can be shared with your GP or specialist.
Can multiple lumps be scanned?
Yes, but please mention the number and locations when booking so the correct appointment time can be allocated.
Can ultrasound tell if a lump is cancer?
Ultrasound can assess the appearance, size, depth and features of a lump. Some findings may look benign, while others may require further medical review, imaging or biopsy. Ultrasound alone cannot always provide a final diagnosis.
Will I get my results the same day?
Yes. The main findings are usually explained during your appointment and a written report is provided the same day.
Do you remove lumps during this appointment?
No. This is a diagnostic ultrasound scan only. If removal or biopsy is recommended, your report will guide you toward the appropriate next step.
Is lump and bump ultrasound safe?
Yes. Ultrasound is non-invasive and does not use ionising radiation.
