What is this scan for?

A quick, targeted ultrasound to characterise soft tissue swellings anywhere on the body. We assess:

• Cysts: fluid-filled, often benign.
• Lipomas: fatty tissue lumps beneath the skin.
• Lymph nodes: reactive or enlarged nodes.
• Other masses: guidance on whether further tests are needed.

What to expect

• Painless, non-invasive scan using a small amount of clear gel.
• Real-time, high-resolution imaging of the lump and surrounding tissue.
• No injections or radiation; you remain fully clothed except the area scanned.
• Typical duration 10–15 minutes.

How to prepare

• No preparation required — eat, drink and take medications as normal.
• Wear clothing that allows easy access to the area of concern.
• Bring any previous imaging or clinic letters if available.

After your scan

You’ll receive a same-day report describing the findings. Where appropriate, we’ll advise on next steps such as GP follow-up, referral, or biopsy.
