Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly online. Your report can be shared with your GP, physiotherapist or specialist.
Can both knees be scanned?
Yes. Both knees can be assessed in one visit.
Can knee ultrasound detect a Baker’s cyst?
Yes. Ultrasound is commonly used to assess for Baker’s cysts and related fluid collections behind the knee.
Can ultrasound assess all knee injuries?
Ultrasound is excellent for many soft tissue, tendon, bursal and fluid-related concerns. Some internal knee problems, such as deeper cartilage or cruciate ligament injuries, may require MRI.
Will I receive results the same day?
Yes. Your findings will be explained during the appointment and a written report will be provided the same day.
Is ultrasound safe?
Yes. Ultrasound uses sound waves and does not use ionising radiation.
