Detailed real-time assessment of finger joints, tendons and soft tissues
Hand ultrasound provides high-resolution assessment of flexor and extensor tendons, tendon sheaths, finger joints, synovial change, ganglion cysts and other superficial soft tissues.
It is particularly useful for suspected trigger-finger-type problems, tenosynovitis, tendon injury, focal lumps and selected inflammatory or degenerative joint changes.
Dynamic scanning can be used while the fingers move to assess tendon behaviour and reproduce symptoms where helpful.

You may be asked to bend and straighten the fingers so tendons and pulley regions can be assessed during movement.
